Have you wondered what was up with
this year’s weird Oscars moment? The New Yorker recently
published an article suggesting this recent Oscar
upset and a couple of other recent surprises might be providing us with
evidence we're living in a simulation like the Matrix--in other words,
experiencing reality shifts and Mandela Effects more noticeably as they
ask, "Did
the Oscars just prove that we are living in a computer simulation?"
As a friend pointed out, “All things are
possible—watch the video. The same envelope says one thing, and
then it says another thing. It never leaves his hands, and he is stunned as
both of them try to read it. He even explains what it had said.”
I've heard the 'official' (still unofficial) explanation that there were
two
sets of envelopes supplied by PriceWaterhouse Cooper and somehow the 2nd
"best actress" envelope showed up in his hands instead of the correct best
picture envelope.
If you don’t find this example of high weirdness at the Academy
Awards all that convincing, perhaps you’ll be surprised to learn
that BBC News now reports Most scientists
‘can’t replicate studies by their
peers’. Recent reports of lack of replicability in
scientific studies is something we'd expect after experiencing Mandela
Effects, reality shifts, quantum jumps and alternate
histories—as we realize we can expect to experience evidence of
subjective experience literally everywhere—even in
science.
Our ability to honestly assess and report just how well we actually can
replicate results provides us with insights as to how replicability
actually works--perhaps without such binary, Boolean precision as so long
presumed, and perhaps more in keeping with quantum uncertainties and
relationally. The advent of quantum physics has long (for over 100 years
now) been indicating our old, classical assumptions of locality and
objectivity are out-dated for science of the future, and it's time we
revamped our scientific method to reflect this.
I've been tracking the phenomenon now called "the Mandela Effect"
since the 1990s when I began teaching workshops about Reality Shifts: When
Consciousness Changes the Physical World, and these increasingly
publicly
evident changes. While these reality
shifts / Mandela Effects have been happening for a long time, at certain
pivotal transitional times in history they become more globally obvious.
For those seeking proof, I share details regarding the doubling of the
placebo effect and other laboratory-tested ways to experience instantaneous
transformation in my book, Quantum Jumps.
If you have doubts that history could possibly change,
here’s a simple experiment you can conduct. You can ask old
friends, siblings, and family members to talk about some memorable moments
you shared—and check to see whether and by how much your
accounts differ.
While you might have dismissed this as simply being a matter of old age and
forgetfulness, thanks to growing public awareness of reality shifts and
Mandela Effects, we now have another possible explanation. And this
explanation can go a long way toward addressing situations where, for
example, you might have occasionally noticed elders saying they remember
things differently, beyond the simple matter of “When I was
young, a candy bar cost five cents” and more along the lines of
apparent confusion, when discovering the heart is not actually a little to
the left in our chests.
I invite you as you read through the reality shift experiences in this
month’s issue of RealityShifters to encourage your imagination

"Mandela Effect" is the recent popular name for the phenomenon when people
notice alternate histories. Increasing awareness of alternate histories
indicates there may not be one absolute reality--as it begins to seem much
more likely that we each experience something akin to a local reality.
Quantum physics depends upon consciousness, and participation by an
observer—leaving us to ponder the exact nature of consciousness,

Natalie Tobert talks with Cynthia about the importance of
understanding how anomalous experiences (such as OBEs and NDEs) that
contain an element of a perceived ‘negative’ nature
are being pathologized by many western medical practitioners and health
experts–which does a disservice to those experiencing these
phenomena, and to society at large. Everyone stands to gain from
recognizing how we can make a cultural U-turn to find the value in
effective practices such as peer-supported open dialogue.
Medical anthropologist Dr Natalie Tobert offers educational training on
Spiritual and Cultural Equalities to staff in hospitals, and students at

In the 1980s I played in a rock-n-roll band in Topeka,
Kansas.
The group disbanded in 1987, and we all went on to pursue other interests.
I remember at one practice session, which was either in 1986 or 1987, that
at practice one night one of the band members informed us that he had heard
that the guitarist, Stevie Ray Vaughan, had been killed in a helicopter
crash. I distinctly remember the discussion, and the fact that he was a
brother to one of the members of The Fabulous Thunderbirds. Recently, I was
reading about Stevie Ray Vaughan in an internet article, and discovered
that he died in 1990, three years after the demise of the band I had been
playing in!
I have two more stories: (1) My son and I used to work together in a
business I owned, and we both remember the day that George Harrison died,
sometime in 1999, at the age of 56. Now I find that he died in 2001, at
the age of 58. My son did not work for me in 2001, and was living in Texas
at the time.
(2) Many people, myself included, can remember advertisements, both on
television and in magazines, that featured Ed McMahon, promoting the
Publisher's Clearinghouse annual contest. Now I find that Ed McMahon never
did any of those ads, and that he was never connected to Publisher's
Clearinghouse.
The signs of parallel worlds are everywhere, and we used to attribute this
to faulty memory. Now we are convinced that a shift has occurred.
Note from Cynthia: Thanks for sharing the way you remember being
at a practice session with your band when you first heard of Stevie Ray
Vaughan's death in the 80's---which apparently now happened instead in
1990, at a time when your band wasn't playing together any more! And how
amazing that you recall you were with your son working together on the day
you first heard that George Harrison died, back in 1999--yet now that would
have been impossible, since your son was living and working elsewhere at
the current official date of death for Harrison in 2001. Details like this
are most amazing when we notice them in our lives, and know for certain we
experienced something differently than the official history would have us
believe must have been the case.

I came to know about the Mandela Effect only recently, I was watching a
video by Cliff High, who specializes in Predictive Linguistics and has
formulated an algorithm that sifts through billions of pieces of collective
consciousness as manifested on the web. From his webbots the algorithm
predicts likely outcomes of the immediate and distant future. In one of his
videos he was postulating a possible cause for the Mandela effect. It was
after this I started to look into the phenomena and the plethora of
information on the subject. So now I have introduced myself I will tell you
about three of the experiences I have had, on the face of it they sound a
little crazy, but in the context of the Mandela effect maybe not so crazy
after all.
The first experience I had was about 20 years ago, my brother had joined
freemasonry and was full of enthusiasm for it, I have always been looking
to answers to life and at the time this looked like a promising avenue. We
were both full of the enthusiasm for the subject researching it and
determining that Freemasonry goes right back to to Magi of ancient Egypt. I
could speak a lot about this topic but I will stick to the subject in
question. During this phase of research I had and still have a large
Colling Dictionary. I was really pleased with the dictionary as it seemed
to have multiple cross references to masonic history. Here were the two
Mandela affected entries: Entry: 'Rosslyn' meaning 'Ancient gaelic for
hidden secret,’ In freemasonry Rosslyn Chapel just outside of
Scotland is the main seat of freemasonry and it is said that the 'ark of
the covenant' was at one time stored there. The second Mandela affected
entry was: 'Ma'at' name of ' Egyptian goddess of justice and balance'. In
freemasonry Maat is an important figure. One day I came to look into the
same dictionary and BOTH these two entries were gone, I checked for torn
out pages there non, I checked other dictionaries including the Oxford
dictionary, they were GONE. I have never ever seen a dictionary that
contained these two entries. I even went to the local library to go through
all the dictionaries there, there was nothing. Everybody I have discussed
it with implied my mind or memory was at fault.
Note from Cynthia: Thanks so much for writing to me with your
experiences with reality shifts. I'm intrigued to hear about your
experience back around 1997 with noticing some strikingly interesting words
missing from the dictionary. I also first really started paying attention
to unmistakable changes in books in the 1990s--starting in the early 1990s,
when reading children's books to my daughters and seeing mind-boggling
changes occur to a book we read every day. I've since seen numerous changes
to all kinds of books, and I can't help but think if I'd grown up in a
culture that accepted that 'sometimes things change' I'd have even more
such examples all through my life. I also have noticed that once people do
start to notice they've been witnessing these shifts, they realize they've
been having these kinds of experiences far longer than they originally
note.
Motorcycle Screws Appeared

This experience involves my fondness for motor bikes—it is my
hobby. At the time I had a Harley with a removable screen. I had taken the
screen off but one day I took it for a ride put the screen back on but
forgot to tighten the screw, when I got back from the ride I was fed up
because half of the screws had vibrated out and were lost (they were only
finger tight). I took the screen off and stored it for over winter; the
screws were American thread so living in the UK everything is metric and I
had no replacements for them. Anyway, next summer my wife agreed to come
for a ride with me. It was to be the last she would never come with me
again after that, she does not like bikes. Before the ride I knew I was
going to have to get one of the screws and try and match it to some
replacement ones for the ones I knew were missing. Imagine my surprise
when I took the screen out of its storage box and ALL THE SCREWS WERE
THERE. This drove me nuts as I had no rational or logical explanation for
this.
Note from Cynthia: I love your description of finding the missing
American style screws in the storage box, as if they'd just been there all
along--and of course you know for sure that wasn't the case, since they had
definitely gone missing, and there was no easy way anyone could have or
would have replaced them while you were there in the UK! This kind of
experience with tools and needed items coming to people is something that
mechanics have noticed for hundreds of years, and that some Nordic cultures
attribute to 'little people' like Swedish tomte in the culture some of my
ancestors are from.
Hertz Office Transformed

The last one was the worst and caused my wife and my
daughter to fall out with me, because they said I had become obsessed with
it. We were on holiday in Corfu. My Eldest daughter had just got married
and my Wife, myself and my middle daughter and our grand daughter , we
needed a break after the hectic times of the family wedding. One day we
decided to hire a jeep to go and visit other beaches and resort's, in the
evening there was a hire car shop front which displayed prices, I agreed to
take an opened top Suzuki jeep for the day, I was to walk down to the shop
indicated in the little town and pick it up the following morning. So the
following morning I went into town, walked down to the hire car office to
pick up this vehicle, the arrangement was I was to leave it at the Hotel
and they would arrange pick up in the evening.
Well the office was very tatty, the desk was cluttered with paper, in fact
the whole place bordered on being seedy, I asked for a child seat and the
man said he didn’t really have one except an old one and it
probably wouldn’t fit in the jeep, I insisted we had the seat,
and fitted it into the back with no problem, it was tatty but it would do
the job. I went back to our hotel for breakfast, I then realized although
he had given me a map the hire contract was missing, I thought maybe it had
fallen out in the car, I looked in the car but it was not there. So I drove
back to the rental place, this is where it gets really Spooky. The rental
office I had rented the car from had GONE there was an office there is was
a PRISTINE Hertz office, with a neat row of what looked to be a LOT of
brand new baby seats lining the left hand side of the office. The desk was
completely clean with a little Hertz flag on it, it was also LOCKED with
nobody in it. My head was popping at this time and I started to think I had
miss remembered where it was, so I walked up and down the parade of shops
looking for the dilapidated office. I never found it. I never got the
contract. My wife insisted it was local people playing tricks and using
offices they did not own to rent out their own cars and make money. I could
have accepted that answer, but that did not explain the Hertz sign outside
that could not be easily replaced or the condition or decor of the office.
All that day my head was spinning, I returned to the site several times
that day, but the Office remained locked and in darkness. In the end my
wife lost patience and fell out with me. At the point I gave up and added
it to the list of things that remained inexplicable to me. Well thats about
it, I notice lots of little things out of place I don't mention them
anymore, I have begun to seriously doubt the reality that surrounds me, in
many ways I am a very luck person, I have a loving family and wife a nice
home which I love to be in, especially as I spend half my life away on the
rigs at this point in time.
Note from Cynthia: Your experience with the Hertz office that
completely transformed is truly remarkable! It would have been one thing if
there was part of the building that was a bit more run-down and happened to
be open while the pristine section remained closed--but to not have a
contract, and need to make due with finding your own baby seat, and then to
come back and see in the closed pristine office what appeared to be lots of
brand new baby seats is just too much! There's no easy way to ignore all
this, and believe somehow you were 'just confused'! This kind of total
transformation to a business is something I've witnessed with a completely
remodeled restaurant in which the staff claimed had 'always been that way,'
and numerous people have shared stories on the realityshifters site over
the years of similarly astonishing and mind-boggling changes that various
buildings and businesses have instantaneously undergone.
Shower Pump Mysteriously Working

I just have to tell you about my Shower pump in the loft, I
had problems with it so I went into the loft to take a look at it. It turns
out wasps had found their way into my roof space and had been drinking from
my water header tank, some of the wasps had fallen into the tank and had
got sucked into the pipe that feeds the pump, subsequently got stuck in the
pump filter hence it would not work. That is the background, so I read
about my pump apparently it is a low cost pump and most internet pundits
reckoned that it was only good for one years life, a couple of years ago it
started not switching off properly, so I thought, well I have had my moneys
worth out of the pump, I extolled the pumps virtue to my wife, I said we
had had great value. And truly what a great pump it had been lo and behold
the pump returned to normal operation! And is still going strong. It has
been in service for around fifteen years, which is ridiculous for a shower
pump.
Note from Cynthia: I love your experience with your low cost
shower pump that returned to normal operation and keeps going strong--for
going on fifteen years now! This indeed is the sort of thing we can enjoy
experiencing when feeling love in our relationships with things, which seem
to reciprocate our affection in better, longer functioning than anyone
could have a right to expect.
Distinctive Sheets Appeared 170 Miles Away

at last I’ve got around to emailing you, to let
you know amazing things have happened to me. It started years ago, but the
most outstanding one was in 2013. I lost my dad to prostrate cancer; then
dad started sending me signs to say he’s still around me. I was
sorting my laundry out and was thinking of a pair of golden-colored sheets
that mom gave me a while ago, and wondered where they was as I’d
moved back home to look after my dad. One weekend I went in the spare room
where my things were that I had bought over with me and found the sheets to
my delight. I put them in the laundry cupboard on the left hand side at the
bottom, only to discover that a week later they weren’t there. I
hadn’t touched them, so I didn’t know what was
happening. Then in time I forgot about them, only to discover that two
years later as I visited my friend in Devon where i also
lived—until I came back home for my dad. The sheets were in one
of the bedrooms in a bag. They were over 170 miles away, large as life.
They never came over with me when I moved back, but those sheets were very
real, as i put them in the cupboard. Please, could you explain to me what
caused that? I watch your videos on youtube and you know what
you’re talking about. It’s awesome that things like
reality shifts actually happen; other things have happened to me too.
I’m just explaining the one as it would take too long for me to
mention all what’s happened. There’s a small glitch
that happened around 2007 when my friend’s dog, Buffy, came into
the living room after eating her meal, then two minutes later came in the
exact same way again! I thought I was seeing things. Now I know these
things literally do happen. I’ve bought your two books, Reality
Shifts and Quantum Jumps—amazing books. I want to say thank you
for helping me to know that I’m not crazy.
Note from Cynthia: Thanks so very much for your lovely email. I'm
glad to know how much you appreciate my writing and talking about reality
shifts and quantum jumps, and I'm glad to read your first-hand report of
your experience seeing those very distinctive sheets appear 170 miles away
from where you'd left them. As far as what caused this apparent
teleportation of the sheets, I don't know for sure. What I do know is that
similar things have happened to me and other people I know, such as I
describe in my book, "Reality Shifts" with a very distinctive copy of a
magazine that teleported itself miles away from where I'd left it. My best
explanation as to what's going on is that sometimes we witness some of the
same kinds of bizarre phenomena we've come to expect to witness in "the
quantum realm" on a macroscopic scale--particularly in situations where an
item like your sheets or my magazine are entangled with us and a couple of
different geographic locations. So we can thus experience seeing something
somewhere surprising without anyone having moved it there--as if it just
arrived on its own. There are many quantum interpretations to explain
what's going on, and some intriguing ones to consider including viewing
reality as: a multiverse or a hologram--or a holographic multiverse, as I
write about in my book, "Quantum Jumps" with the idea that we may literally
be jumping through wormholes, as depicted on the cover and internal
illustrations in that book.

I just want to say seriously you are a reality shift. I went to the library
about a week ago and they told me your book Reality Shifts does not exist at
all, and furthermore you do not exist as an author of any sort. I was so
confused. I went back to the library today, and asked the same person I
asked a week ago about your book, and she said, “Yeah we have it
at another branch, and I will order it for you, and it will be here in
about three days.” My mind was blown. I then asked her if she
remembered telling me that there was no book called that and she said that
she had never even seen me before. Wow is all I have to say!

Hi Cynthia,
I saw your recent Gaia interview and found it fascinating. It made me
wonder if the recent US election itself might have been an example of some
type of quantum anomaly or shift. As I intuitively tune into what happened
on election night, the energy feels very murky to me (i.e., not "clean")
and somewhat surreal. Almost like we stepped into an alternate reality.
It made me wonder if other people who are energetically tuned-in felt the
same thing. I'd like to ask what your perception is around this event. If
you feel that it was some sort of quantum reality-shifting event, what do
you think might have accounted for this? More intense energy felt by Trump
supporters vs. Clinton supporters? Or more intense fear by some Americans
about the impact of a Trump presidency (i.e., focusing on what you fear,
thus attracting it)? Or some other phenomenon? I would really appreciate
your candid perspective as a scientist and student of quantum reality
shifts.

Thanks for writing to me with your question regarding my perspective about
the 2016 presidential election. My awareness of energies, jumps and shifts
related to the presidential election is that election day was one of many
of a long string of related shifts and events from the presidential
primaries and earlier. There are many competing visions of 'best possible'
futures, and the way these visions intersect, collide, and rebound with one
another is what I observe creating interesting eddy currents, reality
shifts, and Mandela Effects in these most interesting of times.

Cultural Perspectives on Mental Wellbeing:
Spiritual Interpretations of Symptoms in Medical Practice

Dr. Natalie Tobert shares her research investigating spiritual and cultural
interpretations of symptoms in Cultural Perspectives on Mental Wellbeing,
envisioning ways mental health care may better serve a broader scope of
patients. With many western medical facilities increasingly handling cases
of peoples from widely diverse cultures and backgrounds, Tobert points out
that the old approach of simply assuming peoples' beliefs don't matter or
can be mainstreamed into whatever society currently deems "normal" no
longer works (if it ever did).
For those wondering what 'spiritual interpretations' of symptoms might be,
Tobert provides a marvelous historical summary of reports by
anthropologists. Tobert beautifully describes a wide variety of
culturally-held beliefs with respect. Maintaining such a sense of respect
can make a world of difference for medical practitioners when talking with
their patients, as can knowing about other cultural beliefs in the first
place.
As an anomalous experiencer, I found the 'anomalous experiences' sections
of this book particularly interesting and meaningful. Dr. Tobert describes,
researchers "discovered there was often a stigma or silence attached to
having religious experiences. Some people who had them didn't speak about
them for fear of being misunderstood or being thought foolish or insane."
People were often afraid of being considered insane, sometimes more from
perceived social pressure than anything the doctors said or did, and some
people sought medical treatment to find out why they were hearing the voice
of God or hearing angels. Tobert's describes various case studies and
suggests that some people who have suffered from extreme experiences might
have had a near-death experience (NDE), out-of-body experience (OBE), or
end-of-life experience (ELE)--and she provides summaries of what these are.
I especially enjoyed the part of Tobert's book where she writes about her
research in India where she interviewed philosophers, priests, and patients
and discovered an absence of any particular medical paradigm--but rather a
diverse blend of medical therapies happening simultaneously with various
spiritual and religious practices. I was especially intrigued to read a
quote from Professor Katkar, "A system that is termed abnormal in America
need not be abnormal here in our culture. These differences exist, within
psychiatry, psychology or philosophy. For example hearing music, where no
one is playing, may be treated as a symptom of schizophrenia by western
psychiatry, but an Indian doctor may think that there is some ghost or
spirit in contact with the person. Perhaps we may say that the Indian
doctor is unscientific, but his own scientific treatment is Indian, for he
may prescribe a lower dose, and it may work. If it works and a person
becomes free of their symptoms, this means we need change to a
result-oriented outlook."
Tobert's book is especially significant now, with increasing cases of
people experiencing 'spiritual crises' or 'spiritual emergencies.' Such
people may feel they are being overwhelmed by a sudden inundation of
extra-sensory information, and may feel out of touch with ordinary reality.
These people need good support, of the kind that can be provided when
medical practitioners are aware of these experiences, and who recognize
that such experiences can often be profoundly transformative. Increased
respect for patients by medical caregivers can also reduce some of the
anger felt that has recently been increasingly directed toward western
psychiatric practioners at being diagnosed as psychotic or schizophrenic
when actually they might have been undergoing some kind of spiritual
awakening.
I highly recommend Cultural Perspectives on Mental Wellbeing for anyone
interested in ways to increase cultural awareness of anomalous and
spiritual experiences.
