How Good Can it Get?
Cynthia Sue Larson
Re-enchant our
World
with the science of magic
"Everyone who is seriously involved
in the pursuit of science becomes convinced
that a spirit is manifest in the laws of the Universe--
a spirit vastly superior to that of man,
and one in the face of which we with our
modest powers must feel humble."
— Albert Einstein
Is there any scientific proof that our thoughts and feelings can literally
change the physical world? This topic has fascinated me and inspired most
all of my writing, books, and realityshifters website. Answers to this
query can be found when reading Dr. Dean Radin's new book, The
Science of Magic: How the Mind Weaves the Fabric of Reality. Radin is
the Chief Scientist at the Institute of Noetic Sciences, and this is the
fifth book of his books I've read, that are all focused on mind-matter
interaction. I love how this book beautifully clarifies some of the
most important aspects of mind-matter interaction, drawing from magical
practitioners and experimental results. Here are some highlights
from The Science of Magic that I find most intriguing.
When viewing the future can change events:
Manipulative Remote Viewing
The concept of Manipulative Remote Viewing (MRV) has to do with the act of
perceiving the future being capable of causing that future event to occur.
Radin says, "It explicitly combines precognition with PK, or in the
language of magic, it is a combination of enchantment and divination."
MRV thus combines a kind of pulling from the future
(precognition/divination) and pushing from the present (PK/enchantment).
Radin outlines the MRV procedure, and points out that while MRV seems at
first to be similar to Associative Remote Viewing (ARV), MRV "includes a
novel twist that turns the passive perceptual act of divination into an
active act of enchantment." This experiment requires: a random number
generator (RNG), 120 images grouped in 24 pools of 5 images, two
experimenters, one remote viewer, and a panel of judges.
One amazing thing about this experiment is that the remote viewer is
focusing on a target that won't even be identified for another 90 minutes.
While one experimenter has an RNG generating numbers one through five, with
a new number every six seconds—running for 90 minutes to create
a sequence of 900 random numbers to make a random selection of one of the
five target images 90 minutes in the future—the second
experimenter asks a remote viewer to divine a picture that will be shown to
them in 90 minutes, drawing a sketch and writing some words.
Astonishingly, when the judges (in a separate room) compare the pool of
random images selected by the RNG, to rank-order each image compared with
the remote viewing impressions, with one being the best—at the
end of 90 minutes, the RNG will produce a random number from one to
five. And this is where something truly remarkable occurs, "For
the remote viewer to end up seeing what they had precognitively perceived,
and what the judges select as the best match and subseuently ranked 1, then
in the future the RNG must generate a 1 as its last number of the sequence.
Why? Because if the judges failed to assign the rank 1 to the remote
viewer's most accurate impressions of the target, it would create a
temporal paradox."
Might we affect the physical world after death?
Consciousness Survives Death
As we integrate the idea that “simple observation” by
remote viewers can apparently influence and change future events, we might
well wonder if our conscious influence exists only while we are alive, or
possibly beyond mortal limits. Computer scientist and philosopher Bernardo
Kastrup points out that laboratory evidence in the form of quantum and
relativistic physics indicate that the everyday commonsense impressions we
hold about reality—involving space, time, matter, and
energy—are illusions: "Indeed, decades of progressively refined and repeatedly replicated
experimental results in foundations of physics have refuted physical
realism: Physical entities have no standalone existence, and as
such, are merely a superficial appearance of a deeper, fundamental but
nonphysical layer of reality. This alone refutes mainstream
physicalism and its implications regarding postmortem survival." "The
most we can say is that death is an event in consciousness: in the
consciousness of the dying and of those observing the dying process and its
aftermath."
Changing paradigms:
Assumptions of Spacetime and Matter are being revised
Some skeptics still insist that "science itself must be broken, because use
of proper methods has produced evidence that cannot be denied, but also
cannot be accepted." Our 19th century idea of reality was based on the
ideas that physical objects have definite properties that remain stable
independently of observation, and that different observers observing the
same object and event will see the same thing. Yet recent scientific
experiments demonstrate "in top-tier science journals that:
(a) different observers measuring the same object can experience different
realities;
(b) in spite of Einstein's opinion that 'spooky action at a distance'
doesn't exist, experimental demonstrations of nonlocatlity won the Nobel
Prize in physics in 2022; and
(c) retrocausal influences can and do occur in quantum mechanics."
And while some skeptical hold-outs might declare that surely these
aberrations must only occur at the "quantum scale," and not in our
larger-than-quantum selves, the burgeoning field of quantum biology
research papers suggests otherwise. In fact, quantum effects appear to be
necessary in living systems. All of this science may not prove magic and
psi exist, but it is very encouraging to witness the arrival of scientific
explanations for much of the basis for magic and psi to work.
How does it work?
Magical requirements and theories
Radin's book describes theories of magic, including some requirements that
have been recognized and noted by psi researchers, such as Gerhard
Mayer. Mayer lists seven essential factors for success in attaining
success in magic, including: Motivation, Connection, Belief,
Effortless Striving, Intention, Clarity, and Gnosis. There are also
some factors to beware of, including: Mistakes, Mind-wandering,
Attachment, Fear, and Self-Deception. Radin describes some of the major
theories accounting for how mind-matter interaction can occur. There are
five major classes of these: quantum-based theories, hyper-dimensional
theories, field theories, retrocausal theories, and integrative theories.
The integrative theories work to combine psi and magic into a single,
high-level model, without dwelling on identifiying an underlying physical
mechanism, such as retrocausality or quantum-inspired connections. Radin
considers three of the primary eight factors of magic as essential:
belief, practice, and gnosis. The other five factors include: attention,
intention, imagination, clarity and motivation.
Re-enchanting our world
after 400 years of Nihilism
Some four hundred years after separation of consciousness from scientific
study, nihilism—an assumption that life is ultimately random and
meaningless—took hold. And somewhat surprisingly, even
in recent years there exists a stigma of anything having to do with
spirituality, prayer, consciousness, or mind-matter interaction. "As
nihilism took hold, modernity did not simply reject the importance of
meaning, purpose, magic, mystery, and spirituality. It actively denigrated
these factors." Skeptics succeeded in mainstreaming the dismissal of
anectdotal evidence as unreliable, baseless assertions that experimental
evidence supporting psi or magic must be solely due to flaws or fraud, and
"writing off these phenomena as impossible because they supposedly
violate physical laws." It really does appear that after Pope Gregory
XV coined the word "Propaganda" in 1622, the witch-hunting Inquisition of
the Middle Ages "still strikes fear in the hearts of academics."
Fortunately, the tide is beginning to turn, now that physics can no longer
ignore the role of consciousness. Indigenous and esoteric wisdom are also
part of this reenchantment, as we begin to see the wisdom of honoring and
caring for nature and our planet, rather than following the disenchanted
"take no prisoners" exploitive path of the past four hundred years.

Cabin in the Woods is such a unique movie in the horror
genre. The first half is like a typical horror slasher film, but then
halfway through, it throws a curveball with a radical 180 turn in the plot
that is frankly shocking! And really fun. The problem is, that movie does
not exist. And a lot of people are upset that this reality erased it. The
new version, which was always the same in this reality, starts off by
giving away the switcheroo at the very beginning, so it's no surprise later
on, which ruins the fun. It's like telling viewers at the beginning of The
Sixth Sense that Bruce Willis is a ghost. A 9-year-old Reddit post
discusses this. But I watched the movie about three years ago, and it was
the same back then. Sorry, that might be just two realities. I'm relieved
that the Volkswagen logo still has a line in the middle, and Star Crash is
still changed. I wonder if I'll ever get back to the reality where David
Hasselhoff had a ring as a lightsaber, because Lucasfilm prevented them
from having a hand-held one, like in Star Wars. Except in this reality,
that lawsuit never happened. The ring saber is so lame. It's reminiscent
of Spaceballs. Except Star Crash pre-dated Spaceballs. It's still funny
to me when people on online forums will adamantly say, "It's always been
like this! You're just crazy!" And I don't ever visit Reddit anymore,
because it's so toxic today, but it does come up in search results. I was
noticing things like this in the early '90s, in my twenties (and based on
your books, I know you did as well). I specifically remember two changes
that shocked me to my core and I had no alternative but to assume I had
misremembered. but that didn't sit right in my gut, so to speak. this was
long before the ME became a label or cultural phenomenon. personally, I
think that because of the early dates, this is not happening due to CERN or
any other modern cause. Do you think the Mandela Effect has always been
happening, but no one in past generations acknowledged it? People tended
to gaslight themselves rather than admit something that hints at mental
illness.
Note from Cynthia: I love how you point out that there's no way
the first version of the movie, "Cabin in the Woods" could have been the
way it is now, because it now includes such an obviously memorable blunder
of an early-in-the-film spoiler! That indeed sounds like a far superior
edition of this film. I love your question about whether the
Mandela Effect has always been happening, but people didn't acknowledge it.
From what I've seen of indigenous cultures, in many cases this type of
thing was acknowledged, though considered to be something spiritual/magical
in nature. Shamans were expected to provide their communities with
miraculous healings, and to influence the weather, the crops, and animals
being hunted. It seems there was a kind of change when assumptions of
materialism became dominant--especially in western society—and
that seems to be the "moment" when people forgot that such instantaneous
changes to reality really did happen previously. And that's the point
where the gaslighting of people occasionally witnessing reality shifts and
the Mandela Effect began.

Dick Cheney alive again
Sara
Los Angeles, California, USA
I’m a fan of your work and listen to your
interviews on YouTube regularly.
I’m emailing because today I “found out”
Dick Cheney had died, and I was instantly struck because I distinctly
remember him dying a few years ago during the Covid era. I recall hearing
remarks from Liz Cheney about her “late father” and
his funeral appearing in the news cycle. I remember conversations about
George W Bush’s presidency and how Dick Cheney was a
controversial figure, which I remembered from my childhood. People on
Reddit are already talking about this, and many of them share the same
memories I have. Some are suggesting that people are mistakenly remembering
the death of John McCain, but I would not have confused Dick Cheney and
John McCain. They were quite different characters who were very prominent
on the political stage while I was growing up, and I specifically remember
Dick Cheney dying. I would love to hear you speak on this and simply
wanted to report it because it really struck me today. There’s
a separate question about the Mandela Effect that I’d love to
hear you discuss. Forgive me if it’s been answered before but
here it goes: Why does the Mandela Effect seem to “live”
in these kind of subtle liminal spaces? For example, in the story you told
in an interview in which you unexpectedly found multiple dollars in your
wallet, it comes across as if the money elves have visited and left the
dollars behind. This seems to frequently be the sort of stage the M.E.
“chooses” to manifest in. Little tricks with a wink
and a nod. How come the the effect doesn’t manifest in a more
prominent way that would be undeniable to all? Do you think we could be in
the process of gaining exposure to it gradually so we have a chance to
acclimate?
Note from Cynthia: Thanks so much for mentioning that you
remember having heard that Dick Cheney passed away a while ago--and as soon
as I read your words, it occurred to me that yes, I'd heard about this
Mandela Effect already--fairly recently. And I agree with
you that Dick Cheney is such a memorable person that he's not
easily confused with anyone else, including John McCain. I
looked up this matter of Dick Cheney being noticed to have died before, and
found that yes indeed, Dick Cheney was remembered as having died
previously, and this was a topic in the October 2024 issue of
RealityShifters. Kevin wrote, "I have another Mandela effect for me
personally, and I wonder if it's the same for you or your colleagues. Dick
Cheaney: I thought he died a while back; now he's in the news endorsing
Kamala Harris." This was archived on the realityshifters website here: https://realityshifters.com/pages/archives/oct24.html
That's a great question about why the Mandela Effect seems to "live" in the
realm of subtle liminal spaces. I have had some rather startling "in your
face" arrivals of items dropping as if out of thin air. In one case, I was
painting a watercolor image of a woman, and as I said something about "you
have a crystalline quality in your heart," and as I was still speaking, a
small crystal appeared in the air in between the woman and me, and landed
on her heart in the picture I was painting. The woman gasped, and since
the crystal was such a beautiful addition to the painting, she had it
framed that way. I've also heard a gallon of milk land inside my
refrigerator while a friend and I were standing next to the
refrigerator--and we immediately opened the door to the fridge, and there
it was. I've also seen a gash on my arm instantly heal as I placed one
hand over the wound area—and I've witnessed numerous other
rather glaringly obvious shifts. I suspect you're right regarding the
reason that most people experience the more subtle types of reality
shifts--exactly as you point out, because a more gradual introduction of
this phenomena gives us a chance to acclimate to a rather huge paradigm
shift. This is preferable to undergoing potentially huge ontological
shock.
De Boers / De Beers
Myshea
Toronto, Canada
Do you remember the South African jewelry store specializing
in diamonds, called De Beers? Well, in Toronto where I grew up I
DISTINCTLY remember seeing the shop everyday on Yonge Street, and the sign
clearly said "De Boers." In fact, I remember well because I pronounced it
De "Bo"-ers and was corrected and informed about the Dutch-sounding names
that Dutch Africanz people had. Hubby remembers too! There must be so
many Mandela Effects piling in. So cool and exciting! We are keeping the
vibe as high as possible and envisioning beautiful creations. How good can
it get? I noticed the DeBoers signs in Toronto in the 1970s and 80s and
now see DeBeers on the internet. Harold noticed them in magazines in the
1980s. Exciting!
Note from Cynthia: This is really cool. I suspect you're not the
only ones who remember this, either. I do remember the DeBeers diamond
advertisements—and in California in the 1970s when I remember
having heard and seen their ads, I remember having heard "De Beers." How
amazing that you remember having heard it pronounced "De Boers" and also
spelled that way, too, on the shop sign in Toronto! And it's
amazing that both you and your husband remember "De Boers," too. I'd also
love to know if anyone else remembers this, too—really
fascinating!
Inexplicably perfectly adjusted roller
blind
Mike
Essex, U.K.
I thought I would update you on my latest strange event.
My wife and I have been decorating. After finishing the Lounge, I
reinstalled the roller blind (this is something so simple and silly, but
it's also physically impossible!), only to find that it did not extend to
its former length (we like it tucked below the radiator), which meant I
would have to dismantle it, adjust it (guesswork, sort of), so we decided
to leave it until the clean up was completed. In order to explain why this
occurrence was so strange, I need to describe how the blind works. It has a
plastic chain, which is joined by a bulky plastic connector that will not
pass through the adjuster under any circumstances. So you pull the chain to
raise and lower said blind, but you must make sure that the bulky connector
is in exactly the correct place. Anyhow, said blind, reinstalled was about
5 inches short of ideal. Both my wife and I witnessed this. The following
evening (yesterday), I pulled the blind down, and it was exactly in the
correct position that I had not yet attempted to adjust!! No one has
touched the blind since it was reinstalled. We cannot explain it. I want
these events, however small, shared. We are a small but awakening group of
people, and we need this information out there.
Note from Cynthia: Thanks so much for sharing your experience
with the inexplicably suddenly perfectly adjusted roller blind! I heartily
agree that these occurrences need to be shared! We can thus remember that
so much more is possible than most of us were taught in school and at home.
Thank you for describing that your roller blind requires careful adjustment
of its bulky plastic connector and plastic chain, in order for it to fit as
desired in your newly redecorated Lounge. I'm glad to hear that both you
and your wife witnessed this together, so you can confirm with one another
that you definitely witnessed the same reality shift!
Smokey the Bear flip-flop
Bev
Georgetown, Texas, USA
We are back to seeing “Smokey the Bear”
not just “Smokey Bear”? https://www.google.com/search?q=paul+lynde+on+smokey+the+bear&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-us&client=safari
I was so excited to see Smokey the Bear is back in the building! Haha. I
do think the Mandela Effect is an inescapable reality buster, which is hard
for anyone to get past. It seems to be getting more traction, but I am
always surprised how many people have never heard of it. Hopefully your
book helps spread the word!
Note from Cynthia: Wow! Just last year, when I was working on
editing my Mandela Effect book, it was officially only "Smokey Bear." How
wonderful to see that "Smokey the Bear" is back—at least in some
places! This Mandela Effect flip-flop will likely be received as very good
news to lots of people—like me. I’ve been
disappointed with the change from Smoky the Bear to Smokey Bear. It makes
me wonder if we might see "Frosty the Snowman" become "Frosty Snowman."
Yes, the fracture of sense of reality is huge, but its time has definitely
come. The front runners in physics are leading the way, and their peers are
voting those front runners to be producing some of the top ideas and
scientific papers in the past six years—so this ontological
shock is not going to go away.
Photosynthesizing Sea Slugs
Lauri
Washington, USA
I just saw this video today about photosynthesizing sea
slugs. It is completely bizarre. Have you heard of this? They are found
around the world. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IH_uv4h2xYM&t=121s
I looked it up to see if it was real and apparently so: "Two of the most
famous species are: (1) Elysia chlorotica: Found along the east coast of
the United States and Canada, this slug can photosynthesize for months,
potentially for its entire life cycle, after consuming the alga Vaucheria
litorea. It was the first animal confirmed to create chlorophyll like a
plant. (2) Costasiella kuroshimae: Nicknamed the "leaf sheep" due to its
cartoonish appearance, this tiny sea slug (up to 0.3 inches long) was
discovered near Kuroshima Island, Japan, in 1993 and is also known to
perform kleptoplasty."
Note from Cynthia: Yes! I had heard of one of these
two—the "leaf sheep"--and the amazing ability it has to
photosynthesize! The other one—Elysia chlorotica—is
new to me. Wow, it seems like we're starting to see photosynthesizing
animals, which seems like a huge upgrade for any animal species fortunate
to be able to attain such an evolutionary leap. Thank you so much for
sharing this with me!
Hi,
I have been watching your clips for years—I did not know you
offer coaching! IN any case, I wondered in maybe one of your many
pod/vlogcast /writings.. you might bring up this topic. I had few radical
ideas how we fixate on our human relationships with focus, intention
co-creating ?" Family members, co-workers who are typically in fixed
position ( holding perceptions of personality+ memory+ hurts+ beliefs." In
a loop of pain, learning, karma. But what if we "break the loop" pattern.
Now, I do mean this literally. So, I know a lot that you do about
frequency, healing, and projection and shifting. I walked through a
"bubble" forcefield few times, where people around me, got suddenly super
loving and helpful, then weeks later it returned to snarky, stressed-out
and distant. This cycle repeated without my intention. Sadly, I don't
know how to "find these." One was in a parking lot! I feel it on my skin,
like warm bath water shimmering. Oddly, it looks like a "portal" without
color—perhaps reality-dimensional shift. it reminded me of
"astral dream." I have had it happen few times but it does not last longer
then few days. If you might find time, great to see if it makes sense
cover it in topic.
thanks for listening,
— Sondra
Dear Sondra,
Yes, I am still offering coaching services! I mention these services each
month in my RealityShifters newsletter, which is now published on Substack.
That's so interesting that you've noticed when you've recognized in the
moment that you were "breaking the loop" of the relationship pattern you
were engaging with. I touch on this very briefly in my book, Quantum
Jumps, with some exercises that provide people with ways to improve
relationships utilizing some methods that definitely do serve to "break the
loop." Rather than finding these bubbles, though, I cover ways that people
can initiate changes in relationships, utilizing some simple practices.
This might indeed provide good material to discuss in a future video at
some point.

Hi Cynthia
I’m listening to your
interview with Pam Gregory—Wow! I love how you see the
world. I’d like to order a t-shirt but link on your website is
broken. Can you help me?
Warmly,
— Linda
Dear Linda,
Thanks so much for your email, and for letting me know that you enjoyed my
interview with Pam Gregory, and would love to order a T-shirt! Here's a
direct link to the site where my "How Good Can it Get" items are sold, and
hopefully this link will work for you: https://www.zazzle.com/store/realityshifters
And yes! I did have a women's shirt design, with 3/4
sleeves—and thanks to your pointing out to me that it wasn't
listed, I discovered that women's t-shirt had been discontinued. So now
here's the link for the newly listed women's T-shirt on Zazzle: https://www.zazzle.com/how_good_can_it_get_womens_t_shirt-256846257008078760

Hello,
Quantum science reminds me of the wave-particle duality of light, which is
both a wave and a particle. This paradoxical harmony deeply fascinates me.
Although I'm not involved in this research, I'm curious how you were
initially drawn to this field?
Thank you!
— Rennie
Dear Rennie,
I've long been fascinated by the true nature of reality--and quantum
physics seems to delve more deeply into this topic better than anything
other than philosophy and ancient spiritual wisdom (which also fascinates
me).
lots of love,

Question:
SATS — I don’t see the point of consciously living in
the end during the day when you could just do it at night. Isn’t
that the whole point of the ladder technique—that the state you
fall asleep in is more important than your daytime state? I
don’t see a contradiction in crying or letting out your emotions
during the day and then returning to your desired state before sleep.
It’s like the ladder technique: people say they’re
not going to climb a ladder, but at night they imagine climbing one
— and after a few days, they actually end up climbing a ladder,
even with that conscious contradiction.
— S.
Dear S.,
Good question. With regard to State Akin to Sleep (SATS), for many of us
who've been meditating already, yes indeed, you can definitely do this at
night. It seems to me that Neville Goddard would also suggest that
we do this in the state of mind between waking and sleeping, such as the
hypnagogic state. Yes, there can be success when feeling emotional
conflicts during the day (waking state) and the imagining desired reality
at night (sleeping).

Dear Cynthia,
Thank you for all your work—I really love it—and am
enjoying your two latest books. I just came across this video, in which it
mentions that the Mandela Effect might have been caused by something that
occurred at CERN. I wondered if you had heard this—and could
there be any truth in that idea?

Dear Suzanne,
Thanks so much for your email message. Yes, there are people suggesting
that scientists at CERN might have something to do with the Mandela Effect.
I've included discussion of this theory in my new book, The
Mandela Effect and its Society: Awakening from ME to WE. I've also
included several other theories of what might be the key factors behind
these collective alternate memories--including consciousness, a great
awakening, and simulation/dream theories. I personally most appreciate
theories that allow for some people having observed the Mandela Effect for
a very long time—long before we began building particle
accelerators.

The Science of Magic:
How the Mind Weaves the Fabric of Reality
by Dean Radin
This page-turner of a book is filled with comprehensive
summaries of the most interesting and detailed scientific experimental
research in the field of psi and magic, as well as fascinating personal
insights about Dr. Dean Radin's experiences, and powerful practical
information and exercises to assist readers in making the most of what
cutting-edge researchers in this field have learned. Far more than being
an interesting book about magic or a good summary of scientific psi
experiments, "The Science of Magic" also succeeds at meeting far loftier
goals. Dr. Dean Radin opens the gates to the dawning of a new day of the
beginning of the re-enchantment of our world--recovering after some 400
years of nihilism and marginalization of anyone or anything striving to
scientifically explore consciousness. It's now been four
centuries after consciousness was separated from scientific study,
with the result that a state of nihilism became rampant. This
nihilism has operated under an assumption that life is ultimately random
and meaningless, since the study of science had been totally set
aside from all that fell under the official dominion of the church.
And somewhat surprisingly, even in recent years there still exists a stigma
of anything having to do with spirituality, prayer, consciousness, or
mind-matter interaction. Radin explains, "As nihilism took hold,
modernity did not simply reject the importance of meaning, purpose, magic,
mystery, and spirituality. It actively denigrated these
factors." Skeptics succeeded in mainstreaming the dismissal of
anecdotal evidence as unreliable, baseless assertions that experimental
evidence supporting psi or magic must be solely due to flaws or fraud, and
"writing off these phenomena as impossible because they supposedly violate
physical laws." It really does appear that after Pope Gregory XV
coined the word "Propaganda" in 1622, the witch-hunting Inquisition of the
Middle Ages "still strikes fear in the hearts of academics." Fortunately,
those of us who are alive now are graced with amazing news that the tide is
beginning to turn. This is primarily due to the fact that physics
can no longer ignore the role of consciousness. While our 19th century
idea of reality was based on the ideas that physical objects have definite
properties that remain stable independently of observation, and that
different observers observing the same object and event will see the same
thing—recent scientific experiments are demonstrating "in
top-tier science journals that (a) different observers measuring the same
object can experience different realities; (b) in spite of Einstein's
opinion that 'spooky action at a distance' doesn't exist, experimental
demonstrations of nonlocality won the Nobel Prize in physics in 2022; and
(c) retrocausal influences can and do occur in quantum mechanics." And
while some skeptical hold-outs might declare that surely these aberrations
must only occur at the "quantum scale," and not in our larger-than-quantum
selves, the burgeoning field of quantum biology research papers suggests
otherwise. In fact, quantum effects appear to be necessary in
living systems. How and why we can gain a deeper understanding of
consciousness, and best assist humanity becomes increasingly clear while
reading this outstanding book.
