How Good Can it Get?

Focus the power of your inner narrative
Ashes
Hello wise humans!
What if our mental processes are entangled in reality itself to such a
degree that our life is what our thoughts make it? If this is even
partially true, we might notice that when we change our internal
narrative—our story—we literally also change the
external world.
I’ve had a couple of experiences that showed me firsthand that
choices I've made with all my heart and soul have been literally
life-saving. The first time I observed that this happened occurred before I
realized such things were even possible. Back when I was living on Cedar
Street in Berkeley in the mid 1980s, I completed graduate school and moved
from an apartment on one side of the street to an apartment on the other
side. I'd been living with a roommate, Kathryn, who had brought home a
kitten that we had all fallen in love with, named Ashes. During the years
I'd lived with Kathryn, Ashes had been a beloved member of our household,
and I spent a great deal of time with him.
Cynthia in 1985 and 1987
When I moved across the street, I was glad to see Ashes come visit in the
garden several times a week, and often sat in the grass with him, enjoying
time just hanging out with him. When I started a job working as a project
manager for Citibank, I had a great deal less free time to spend with
Ashes, and I didn't stop to pet him when coming home, wearing my business
suits. One day, Kathryn came across the street, looking distraught. I asked
her what was wrong, and she told me, "Ashes was hit by a car, and
died." I was devastated to hear this, and felt this news hit my heart
like some kind of shockwave. I wished I had kneeled down, even wearing
those fancy business suits, and taken time to say "Hello" to Ashes every
time I came home. The grief I felt was so overwhelming it was too much to
carry until I promised myself and God that I would no longer be that person
who kept clothing clean instead of hugging such a dear friend as Ashes. I
was crying as I walked from the sidewalk to my front door, but feeling
better that I was now a changed person. This did not prepare me for what
happened next--I don't know that anything could have prepared me. A few
days or couple of weeks later, Ashes was there in my garden. He seemed a
bit dirtier and greasier than before, like he wasn't washing as well, but
he was definitely the same cat.
I had another experience of choosing which version of myself in the year
2016, when I was very sick with pneumonia that seemed to be progressively
worsening, rather than getting better. This particular illness had started
following an emotional shock and feelings of having been betrayed by
someone I trusted. There was a moment when this illness switched from
getting worse to suddenly clearing up completely--and that came when I
realized that while I might have been okay with dying at that time, most
everyone who knew me would not choose for me to die at that time.

Empathy and Perspective Switching
Empathy is the ability to sense other peoples' emotions, imagining what
others may be feeling or thinking—and it is a skill that can be
developed. People who consider themselves to be natural empaths comprise
between 86 to 89% of Mandela Effect experiencers, with the INFJ and ENFJ
types noted as being most empathic. Empaths share an ability to experience
consciousness from other perspectives. I am an INFJ type, and I tend to
experience reality shifts most vividly when moving my conscious awareness
back and forth between awareness of identifying as simultaneously existing
as consciousness of an eternal spiritual being embodied in a physical,
mortal body. For those of us who consider the Imaginal Realm to be real,
such as shamans, indigenous elders, spiritually faithful and mystics do, we
will tend to experience more frequent and more noticeable reality shifts
and Mandela Effects. Moving back and forth between different observational
perspectives and levels of conscious agency is something Empaths do
naturally, which tends to activate opportunities for witnessing physically
different realities. The high correlation between Mandela Effect
experiencers and the quality of Empathy provides us with powerful clues as
to possible quantum mechanism that we can utilize when asking to experience
reality shifts, Mandela Effects, or miracles. The ability to hold two (or
more) different observational perspectives appears to be closely aligned
with the ability of Empaths to witness alternate timelines.
Holding Two Opposed Ideas
American author F. Scott Fitzgerald once said, "The test of a first-rate
intelligence is the ability to hold two opposed ideas in the mind at the
same time, and still retain the ability to function." Fitzgerald added
some clarification regarding what he meant by this: "One should, for
example, be able to see that things are hopeless and yet be determined to
make them otherwise."
Perhaps part of our ability to function arises from the awareness that
there may be two (or more) versions of ourselves operating in these
different world views, yet we can feel relatively confident that we will
make the best choice for ourselves and others at any given time and place.
Perhaps those of us who can be calm and mentally collected with such
opposing ideas are aware that the choices we are making on the inside can
have profound impact in the physical world. We can see some evidence of
this from the field of Psychology.
Coincider Traits
Over the years I've noted there exists a strong connection between reality
shifts and synchronicity. These often occur in ways that suggest there is
some higher hidden order of conscious agency at work. In the "How Do You
Shift Reality" surveys, I discovered that 95% of respondents in 2000 and
93% of respondents in 2015 experienced synchronicity in their daily lives.
American psychologist Bernard Beitman studies "Coinciders" who frequently
experience meaningful coincidences, and discovered they have four primary
traits in common:
(1) Self-referential thinking (associating external events as having
personal significance,
(2) High emotion (either positive or negative),
(3) A spiritual/religious outlook, and
(4) Searching for life meaning.
Self-referential thinking allows for perspective shifting between different
levels of conscious agency.
Ask “How good can I get?”
We can benefit by asking, "How good can it get?" in every situation,
precisely because we live in a participatory universe, where what we ask is
answered. As the physicist John Archibald Wheeler pointed out, when you ask
Nature a question, Nature answers. We are especially likely to see
strongest and fastest responses to our questions when our head, heart, and
gut are all aligned—rather than having destructive interference
between different parts of ourselves. When we turn this question in the
direction of choosing to be our own best version of ourselves, we can begin
to experience the full power of how good everything can get. As someone
else famously once said, "Be the change you wish to see in the
world."
Three Ways to Know that You've Shifted
You can trust your own discernment and knowing when you know something for
sure, but sometimes it can feel a bit confusing when you notice that
something seems to have inexplicably changed. When thinking back to a past
event or circumstance, you might have some kind of anchor memory that you
know for certain the Mandela Effect or personal reality shift in question
really took place. For example, I have vivid memories of seeing the
animated Tinkerbell fly up next to the Disneyland castle and dot the letter
"i" in the word Disney every Sunday evening for "The Wonderful World of
Disney." This anchor memory provides me with a sense of certainty that this
opening sequence really happened, because I'd be riveted to the TV screen
for this entire animated sequence, much more than any other part of the
show. The second way you can tell that you've shifted is that you witness a
real-time reality shift in the present moment. This can be disconcerting,
but when it happens, it's undeniable and unmistakeable. I've heard a carton
of milk land inside my closed refrigerator when we were out of milk, and
the "thud" sound it made when it landed was distinct, memorable, and
attention-getting! Paying attention to see if you notice any future
"flip-flops" can provide you with confirmation that reality shifted, since
as you and others are paying more attention, you're seeing reality change.

shifted” when you watch the one minute video short (fresh,

The Quantum Jumping power of Cognitive Dissonance
19 Aug 2026
14 minutes
There is a concept in the field of psychology known as
“cognitive dissonance”--the mental discomfort you
feel when thoughts and beliefs do not match. This term has been somewhat
co-opted to imply one certain meaning primarily, when what it actually
demonstrates is that people holding two simultaneously very different views
of themselves may end up shifting their view of who they are. How good can
our lives get when we make choices to be our best possible versions of
ourselves? What if changing ourselves is the way that Quantum Jumps
actually operate? We may assume that choices we make are purely our own
inner thoughts, having absolutely nothing to do with what we experience in
"the real world" around us--but what if those assumptions are untrue?

What if Mandela Effects are more than unusual memories? What
if they are clues pointing toward a deeper understanding of consciousness,
observation, and the evolving nature of reality itself? In this special
conversation, I talk with Christopher Anatra, the first CEO to officially
acknowledge the Mandela Effect, as we explore some of the newest and most
fascinating developments we've encountered. We contemplate memory,
collective consciousness, and the possibility that remembering is more
important than convincing. This conversation delves into time travel,
synchronicities, and the strange experiences that continue to emerge as
more people awaken to the possibility that reality is far more fluid than
we once imagined. Throughout our conversation we return to one simple idea:
we're not trying to convince anyone of anything. We're inviting people to
remember, and ask the questions we'd most love to live the answers to.

The Yoga of True Forgiveness livestream . We explored memory, possibility,
the Mandela Effect, reality shifts, quantum jumping, mind-matter
interaction, lucid dreaming, lucid living, and the possibility that
consciousness changes the physical world. From the perspective of Just a
Yogi, this conversation also opens naturally into questions familiar to
students of A Course in Miracles (ACIM): perception, forgiveness, the
guidance of the Holy Spirit, awakening, and the discovery of inner peace
when what we think we know about reality is called into question. This is a
gentle conversation about memory, consciousness, possibility, and the
mystery of the world we experience.

I had a long chat with Maryam Henein about what the Mandela
Effect is, and why it's much more than what some people presume it to be.
When we acknowledge that the Mandela Effect can be acknowledged as
“collective alternate memories,” we can start to
investigate why and how these collective memories are changing, and what
that implies about who we are, what reality truly is, and how our thoughts
and feelings can collectively change the physical world.

on "Angels, Positivity, and Love." We explore love, joy, consciousness,
reality shifting, and the possibility of multidimensional
experience—and how happiness and love can be consciously chosen,
even during chaotic or stressful periods. The conversation moves into
personal experiences involving ancestral connections, angels, galactic
beings, and apparent reality shifts. Physical reality can be viewed as
consciousness-based and we can benefit from remaining open to possibilities
beyond conventional assumptions. A major theme here is radical optimism
through awe, wonder, gratitude, and heart-centered attention. Small acts
infused with love can have profound effects, while openness allows people
to experience greater connection, possibility, and transdimensional
leverage. KEY TAKEAWAYS: Love is always available Consciousness shapes

I have had my old Kindle for 13 years. I noticed in the past
couple of weeks that it was cracking open along the seams. I didn't pay it
too much attention, but a few days ago, I went to google AI, and asked what
that means. It said if you can't put it back together, it is most likely
the battery getting hot and expanding. That's a bad sign, and could be a
sign that it could explode or catch fire. It recommended trading it in, and
in the meantime storing it in a non-flammable container. I put it on the
marble counter top in my guest bathroom. I was moaning about having to buy
a new Kindle, because that one originally cost $39, and now they run from
$129 to $200 and up. Yikes. Whine, Whine. Then I thought, “I
think I have a tablet that someone gave me. Maybe I can use that.”
So I went to the bedroom and retrieved it, charged it up, and opened
it—and lo and behold it was a Kindle Fire, and it was named
Sandy's 3rd Kindle! I had two, Sandy's first Kindle, and Sandy's second
Kindle. I have no memory of ever buying a third Kindle or having one given
to me. I asked all my family who are the only ones who would have given me
one, and no one ever remembers me having a third Kindle. I had a low end
tablet. I went to Amazon and tracked my purchases, and it showed only two
Kindles purchased. Then I went to my logged in devices, and it was only
showing me one since I gave away the second one. But there was a button
that said, “show me all devices registered on Kindle.”
And there was Sandy's 3rd Kindle. So I changed it to my primary device, and
immediately remedied the situation. I mean, it's easy to say I just forgot,
but I really still have a good memory. I believe this is a Mandela Effect
that turned my cheap tablet into a Kindle Fire just when I needed it. It
was registered on Amazon in 2023, the year I moved to San Antonio. And I
know for sure that I didn't buy a Kindle during my move. I just said,
“Thank you, Universe, for my birthday present!”
lol
Note from Cynthia: Oh, WOW! I love how your cheap tablet
transformed into a Kindle Fire just when you needed it most! What a
delightful birthday present from the Universe, indeed! Many of the
reality shift first-hand experiences that I and others have reported over
the years arrive exactly when truly needed, so your extraordinary Kindle
experience dovetails beautifully with this lovely trend!

Familiar product changed name
Vivek
Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India
A few months back, I bought a strip of biotin-and-folic acid
tablets with the brand name, "Hairit." Yesterday, I bought the same
tablet, but now the name is Actihair. The manufacturing company is the
same, and there has never been a product, "Hairit." The fact is, I didn't
continue using the tablet, after taking them for a month. And after some
months, I took along a friend to buy him the same tablets from same shop.
What's interesting is I asked the shopkeeper for "Hairit," and adding
biotin folic acid as afterthought, he frowned and said, "It's not Hairit."
Anyway, he gave me the tablet Actihair. Please do include it in your
publication, that's the least we can do to help others cope with the
phenomena.
Note from Cynthia: Thanks so much for sharing this personal
Mandela Effect! That's so interesting that you clearly remember
that the strip of biotin and folic acid tablet used to be
called Hairit, and now there is no such product name. These reality
shifts and Mandela Effects can be quite disconcerting, and it's extremely
helpful to share our experiences so we can better understand ourselves and
reality. Discovering that some aspects of the past really can
change certainly is quite the oppositive of what I was taught in school,
yet some of us are witnessing these things regularly.
It happened again a few hours ago! I think I was starting to cross
over into or getting another glimpse into a timeline in the
1800’s, or I was glimpsing into the past. I was out in
the little woods behind my home getting ready to come back inside from
spending time with the animals, and I looked over near a large rock that
was about 20 or 30 feet from me, and I saw a portion of an old wood fence.
I could sense intuitively that there were cows there, but I
couldn’t see them. What is interesting to me is that my
grandparents were dairy farmers, and I spent quite a bit of time on the
farm as a child and even as an adult. The old wood fence that I saw
reminded me of the old wood fencing my grandfather used in the
70’s as a gate that he opened and closed to get into the cow
pasture. From about the 80’s or 90’s onward,
he used metal fencing as a gate that he could open and close to get into
the cow pasture. It’s interesting, because the first
thought that came to mind when I saw the old wood fence/gate appear and
disappear was that it looked like a gate to a pasture, and I doubted it was
from our time period, because most farmers probably use metal gates now.
Pretty cool!I don’t recall having any thoughts on my
mind right before it happened. However, I’m currently
experiencing many challenges in life. So, maybe my soul is wishing
to be in simpler times without the problems and issues I’ve been
facing. Maybe my soul is attempting to leave to a more tranquil
place where the issues don’t exist, and I’m shifting
to such a place. I’ve felt my soul trying to let go in
general, but I’m not ready to go on a waking conscious
level. So, maybe my soul is attempting to leave by going
elsewhere.
Note from Cynthia: This is so interesting, how you've been
receiving glimpses into life back in the 1800s, and so interesting that you
have a sense of familiarity with the cows and fencing you remember at your
grandparents' dairy farm. That is very cool! That's so incredibly
insightful that in longing for simpler times, you're calling in timelines
from a peaceful, idyllic time. I love the way that feels--it hits
just right, like the best kind of mini-vacation, just when it's needed
most.
Reality is interactive
Jane Cobbald
Greencombe, Somerset, England
It's so hard to allow this shift of perception in oneself! Indeed, it is a
quantum leap. The relentlessly-unrolling-carpet-of-inevitability reality
can't conceive of a living, exploratory one. My new phrase is "reality is
interactive". An example story (from several that have happened recently).
At the weekend an old damaged tooth started hurting again. I thought, do I
want to be in a reality with this toothache? No. What is needed to make the
shift? I asked whatever-it-is that can see me to bring well-being,
easement, settlement and release to that tooth. I repeated the request
several times that day. Then I forgot about it. Yesterday I realised, the
toothache is no longer there! I sent gratitude to whatever it was that had
helped. Discussing it with friends yesterday, I realise this principle
extends to EVERYTHING. Last night I had a vision of a gentle, interactive
world, one with kindness, care and humanity. This is the one I want to see,
so I will petition for that too, and do my best to be of its nature, so
that it has an anchor point here in the incarnated being that I am.
Note from Cynthia: Yes, indeed, reality truly is
interactive! I love how you focused on heart-felt requests that
were aligned with what you knew you truly needed, and then let the matter
go (forgot about it). I find that combination of making a
well-aligned wish (visualized in the head, beloved in the heart, needed by
the gut) and then releasing any attachment to outcome (with faith that
whatever's the best for all concerned is what is now occurring) is a
beautiful way to experience excellent results. I love how you are
so keenly aware that "reality is interactive" and embrace this
idea! American physicist John Archibald Wheeler referred to
the way that whenever an Observer asks Nature a question, Nature answers.
He famously called this a "Participatory Universe." Wheeler was a
contempory of Albert Einstein, and he also named "Black Holes," "White
Holes," and gave us the notion of "It from Bit" as well as other genius
level contributions.
Dear Cynthia,
I often wonder when I'm in a room with my family, if we are all creating
our reality according to frequency matches etc., could it be that although
it looks like there are just 5 of us in the room, all interacting with each
other, in reality there are actually multiple versions of us in the room
interacting with each other & actually seeing & experiencing slightly
different conversations, situations, moods, behaviours etc.?
E.g. I might be seeing an upset version of my daughter who broke up with
her boyfriend, & to me it looks like that's what we're all seeing &
experiencing, but my partner or son may be seeing a happy version of her
that just had a great date with her boyfriend, & to them it also seems that
we are all seeing the same, but we're actually just all seeing different
versions of each other, which is a match for our individual unique reality
in that moment? I hope this makes sense, I find it tricky to explain what
I mean! Thank you.
— Lucy
Dear Lucy,
Yes, we do now have substantial evidence from physics experiments
documented in 2019 (Brukner-Proietti) that demonstrate that two observers
at the same place and same time do observe different realities.
This was proven in quantum physics experiments.
In our daily lives, we can perhaps best get a mental grasp of this by
reading this excellent book,
One, None, and a Hundred Thousand by Luigi Pirandello, with its
brilliantly insightful take on the essence of identity. The masterpiece
that is Luigi Pirandello's "One, None, and a Hundred Thousand" is at first
glance the story of a man viewed by his friends and family to have gone
mad, as he systematically does his best to destroy each and every one of
his identifiable personas. The genius of this book is the way it brings us
inside the mind of it's main character, an Italian man named Vitangelo, who
becomes obsessed with the notion that his version(s) and understanding of
himself are not at all the same as the personas that others believe him to
be--nor are they likely who he thinks them to be. In any gathering of two
people A and B, for example, we will at minimum have four definitive
personas present: the person A believes A to be, the person A believes B to
be, the person B believes A to be, and the person B believes B to be. In
truth, there are far more likely a great deal more personas present even
than that, as this fascinating novel vividly describes.

___________
Dear Cynthia,
I'm in the process of watching the interview you did with Christopher
Anatra, Reality Changed Again—Amazing insights from brand
new Mandela Effects, and I was simply stunned when both you and
Christopher said the Tankman was run over! I remember without a doubt the
following: coming home from work and my partner at the time (who
unfortunately has since transitioned) meeting me and very excitedly telling
me about how the Tankman stopped the tanks and climbed up and spoke with
the soldiers inside the tank, etc. etc. and was eventually hauled
away—your second version. I remember watching the video over and
over all that night together with my partner-—we were both
overwhelmed with the courage of this one man. Throughout the years I have
always held the vision of this sole man in front of the tank.....and when
the tank tried to move right or left, he would move right or left. Never
had I ever seen or heard of the version you mentioned which resulted in him
being run over the the tank. I'm a little thrown off about this all which
is good ..... I guess different timelines. Thought you would be
interested. All the Best,
— Tiffany
Dear Tiffany,
Thank you so much for writing to me with your memories about having first
heard from your partner how the Tiananmen Square Tank Man stopped the
tanks, and had climbed up to talk to a Tank driver, and then was hauled
away. That's great that you remember watching this mostly peaceful version
of events over and over back in 1989. Yes, we can definitely have different
memories from one another--this is very much part of the Mandela Effect!
And so is the occasional feeling of being stunned, surprised, and
astonished! I suspect that is probably much of rhe reason for us to notice
and talk about the Mandela Effect. Since these collective alernate memories
grab our attention, we then begin to wonder if we're the ones both
orchestrating and experiencing this phenomenon.

Dear Cynthia,
I think of your last statement almost constantly during the
day—How good can it get or It’s all good! I am soon
to be 77, have had several health issues in past but have recovered very
well. I totally believe how we think is how it will be. Actually just
finished re- reading “A New Earth “ and am now re-
reading “The Power of Now”. Thank you so much for
this message !
— Joanne
Dear Joanne,
I'm so happy to hear that you've been recovering very well from healh
issues, and that you're focusing on my favorite question, "How good can it
get?" I hope your upcoming birthday is wonderful, and wish you and
yours all the very best! lots of love,
— Cynthia
___________
Hi, Cynthia,
I've followed your work for years, so I know you will find this
interesting. Today I noticed your book Reality Shifts is no longer in its
spot on my bookshelf. I did not move it and there is not an empty space
where it once was. No other books are missing. I live by myself so I know
for sure no one else moved it. And I know for sure it was there because I
remember seeing it when I dusted this shelf a few weeks ago. I've
noticed things disappear more and more often. And sometimes I remember
something disappeared, but can't remember what the thing was.
Sometimes these things turn up in odd places, but mostly they never come
back.
I hope my book and other disappeared items decide to come back. Best
regards,
— Holly
Dear Holly,
Thank you so much for writing to me. This is very interesting how you have
noticed that your copy of my book, Reality Shifts, has moved from its spot
on your bookshelf. How fascinating that it was there just a few weeks ago
when you saw it in its place, and now there is no gap where it used to
be—and presumably, no noticeable additional books that were not
there before. Perhaps if you ask the question, “how good can it
get?“ you might start noticing things returning more often.I
hope this book returns to you! Lots of love and thanks,
— Cynthia
